Jose LaPorte, 24, was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on charges of strict liability for drug-induced death, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

The allegations come after 35-year-old Sung Han fatally overdosed on April 12 in his Delran home. An investigation revealed he had purchased drugs from LaPorte, authorities said.

LaPorte was arrested just two days later by Burlington Township Police, who found heroin on him at the time, according to the prosecutor’s office.

He is expected to be arraigned soon in Burlington County Superior Court.
